Lansing Lugnuts News Release

LANSING, Mich. - The Lansing Lugnuts (24-14, 62-43) bounced back after losing back-to-back home games for the first time this year thanks to a masterful complete game from Casey Lawrence, defeating the South Bend Silver Hawks (17-21, 51-56) 6-1 on Tuesday night at Jackson Field.

Lawrence (Win, 9-8) stifled the Silver Hawks' batters all night, allowing just one run on four hits with three strikeouts and no walks. It was his first career nine-inning complete game, finished in two hours and 13 minutes.

The Lugnuts jumped on South Bend starter J.R. Bradley (Loss, 4-13) for four runs in four innings of work. Garis Pena stroked a run-scoring double to right-center field in the fourth to chase Bradley from the game.

Everyone in the lineup chipped in offensively, with Pena finishing the game 3-for-4 with a pair of singles to go with the double, backed up by 2-for-4 nights from Markus Brisker and Jake Marisnick. Oliver Dominguez had two triples, K.C. Hobson had a double, and Michael Crouse had a run-scoring single to complete the team effort.

The Lugnuts throw right-hander Marcus Walden (5-3, 3.00) against Silver Hawks righty Tyler Green (3-7, 5.70) Thursday night, a Beatles-themed Labatt Blue Light Thirsty Thursday at Cooley Law School Stadium. Tickets are available for purchase online at www.lansinglugnuts.com, at the stadium box office, and by calling 517-485-4500.
