Dragons Announce Player of the Month Winners for July

DAYTON, OHIO- The Dayton Dragons have announced the winners of the team's Batter and Pitcher of the Month awards for July. Fans selected the winners through a voting process at www.daytondragons.com.

Fans selected Ronald Torreyes (hitter) and Daniel Renken (pitcher) as the July Players of the Month.

Torreyes (pronounced tuh-RAY-us) batted .386 with two home runs and 17 runs batted in for the month. He finished tied for first in the Midwest League in hits for the month. He was second in the MWL in batting average and tied for second in runs scored in July.

Renken posted a record of 3-0 with a 0.93 earned run average in five starts during the month. He was promoted to Bakersfield of the California League on Monday and made his first start for the Blaze last night, earning the victory.

Torreyes will appear at the Dragons Player of the Month luncheon at 12:00 noon on Friday, August 5 at Donatos Pizza, 5120 North Main Street in Dayton. Dragons pitching coach Tony Fossas will attend to represent Daniel Renken. Dragons third baseman David Vidal, who hit .337 with five home runs in July, will also be in attendance. Fans may attend to ask questions to the winning players and receive autographs.
