Late Rally Not Enough in Bats' 6-4 Loss

MOOSIC, Pa.--- The Louisville Bats (35-37) fell in game two against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (42-31) on Tuesday night at PNC Field. The Louisville Bats trailed 4-0 in the eighth before scoring four runs to tie it up but the RailRiders answered quickly getting two runs in the bottom half of the frame to secure the win.

The RailRiders scored two unearned runs in the first inning to get an early lead. Kyle Roller added on to their lead in the bottom of the third with a solo homerun to right-center field.

The Bats gave up another run in the sixth after Austin Romine and Nick Noonan hit back-to-back doubles for the RailRiders.

Louisville had a big inning in the eighth to comeback and tie the game. After Brendan Boesch doubled in Irving Falu for one run, Yorman Rodriguez hit a three-run homerun. However, the RailRiders took back the lead quickly in the bottom of the eighth by scoring two to win the ballgame.

Offensively for the Bats, Irving Falu was 3-for-4 and Yorman Rodriguez was 2-for-4 which included his three-run homer in the eighth.

Donovan Hand (1-3) started for the Bats and picked up a no decision. Hand threw five and one-third innings. He gave up eight hits, four runs (two earned runs), and no walks while striking out two. Joe Patterson (0-1) suffered the loss for Louisville.

Esmil Rodgers (0-0) started for the RailRiders and also picked up a no decision. Rogers pitched five innings giving up two hits, no runs, and two walks while striking out four. Despite giving up all four Bats' runs in the eighth, Jose Ramirez picked up the win for the RailRiders as Tyler Webb picked up the save.

The Bats will play game three of the four game series against the RailRiders on Wednesday at 7:05. Expected to pitch for Louisville is Keyvius Sampson (1-0, 4.09). For the RailRiders, Jordan Foley (1-2, 3.77 w/ Charleston) will get the start.
