Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

IronPigs Charities has teamed with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Lehigh Valley to improve club member's knowledge of healthy habits, good nutrition and physical fitness via the brand-new "Make a MOVEment" program developed by IronPigs strength and conditioning coach Dong Lien. "Make a MOVEment" will be incorporated into the Boys and Girls Club's Triple Play Challenge program with a total of two dozen club members from Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton participating in the program this July at Coca-Cola Park.

The goal of the Boys & Girls Club Triple Play Challenge is to provide a game plan for the mind, body and soul for its members. Through the Triple Play experience for members ages 6-18, local Boys & Girls Clubs challenge members to become healthy and active by learning new ways to eat nutritionally, manage stress, maintain physical fitness and form positive relationships with peers. "Make a MOVEment" builds upon the Triple Play program by placing an additional emphasis on the importance of physical fitness.

The "Make a MOVEment" program, which begins July 2 at Coca-Cola Park, will be overseen by Lien, who is currently in his eleventh season as a strength and conditioning coach in the Phillies organization. He holds a Master's from California University of Pennsylvania and was part of the Phillies' 2008 World Series Championship team, and 2009 Dick Martin Award winning training staff.
