Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: Dylan Axelrod (4-5) held the RailRiders without a baserunner through four innings and without a hit through five as the Louisville Bats left PNC Field with a 4-2 victory on Monday night.

A LITTLE HELP?: Starter Kyle Davies (5-5) left a two-run game en route to his second straight loss. He has gone 4-1 in six road outings and 1-4 in seven starts at PNC Field. Run support has been a problem. In his five losses, SWB had placed three total runs on the board while he was on the bump. Including runs scored after his departure from those games, he received seven scores in those five setbacks.

ON A ROLL: Kyle Roller slugged his team-leading 11th home run to get SWB on the board in the sixth. He has homered in consecutive games and owns six RBIs in his last three games played. Only Charlotte's Matt Davidson, who plays at the power-enhancing BB&T Ballpark, has more home runs than Roller in the IL. Ten of Davidson's 13 were hit in Charlotte.

POWER SURGE: The RailRiders have homered in a season-best three straight games. Only three IL teams have bashed more June homers than SWB (16): Charlotte (23), Pawtucket (20) and Durham (19). The RailRiders are an IL-best 15-6 in June.

STREAKING STROKE: Despite a nearly week-long layoff in the wake of being hit in the head with a fastball, Austin Romine has assembled a 10-game hitting streak. He has hit .317 (13-for-41) over his run with 12 RBIs. On the season, he has hit nearly 40 points better on the road than at home (.271-.235) with four of his five home runs and 21 of his 29 RBIs. Only Rob Refsnyder owns a longer hit streak for SWB this season. He authored an 11-game run from May 10-21.

HERE COMES THE JUDGE: Aaron Judge assembled a solid Triple-A debut. He gloved Irving Falu's falling-fast contact with a lunge in right field on the game's second pitch. He lined out to shortstop in his first Triple-A plate appearance and finished the game 1-for-4.

LORD I WAS BORN A GAMELING MAN: Ben Gamel went 1-for-4 with his team-best eighth triple and a run scored. Thrust into the role after the promotions of Slade Heathcott and Mason Williams, Gamel has hit .333 in 15 games played atop the SWB lineup with six extra-base hits and eight RBIs. He leads the team with 24 multi-hit efforts.

TRIPLE THREAT: Gamel stands tied with Indianapolis' Alen Hanson for the league lead in triples. He matches or exceeds the triple totals of four IL teams: Buffalo (8), Norfolk (7), Lehigh Valley (6) and Pawtucket (6).

ROAD WARRIORS: The RailRiders stand four games below .500 at PNC Field (17-20) and 14 games over on the road (24-10). The team has hit .281 on the road compared to a .257 mark at home. On the road, SWB has scored 178 runs in 34 games (5.2/game). At home, the squad has plated 141 runs in 38 games (3.7/game). The pitching has performed better at home (3.27 ERA) than on the road (3.45 ERA). No IL team has a better road winning percentage than the RailRiders (.706), who have won 17 of 20 away from PNC Field.

HALFWAY HOME: After Monday's game, the RailRiders are halfway through their 144-game campaign. The team is currently on pace to win 82 games this season. No IL North team has won that many games since the 2012 SWB squad took the division at 84-60. No IL team other than SWB has won that many games since Pawtucket went 85-58 in 2009 when the Red Sox took the wild-card spot behind the 88-56 SWB Yankees.

FELICIDADES!: Diego Moreno made his MLB debut last night with one scoreless inning in the Yanks' 11-8 loss to the Phillies. He struck out two with no walks.
