Late Inning Rally Propels Patriots over Sea Dogs

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Despite an early lead after the first inning, the Portland Sea Dogs fell to the Somerset Patriots 6-2 at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday night. Portland falls out of first place while Somerset takes the 0.5 game lead over the Sea Dogs in the Northeast Division.

Brayan Bello tossed season-high 7.0 strong innings allowing one run on seven hits while striking out nine. He did not walk a batter. Dominic LoBrutto was given the loss tossing 0.1 inning allowing three runs on one hit while walking two and striking out one.

The Sea Dogs were first to strike in the top of the first inning. After Cameron Cannon singled and Ronaldo Hernandez doubled to left field, Hudson Potts hit a groundball to the shortstop. Edgardgo Torrealba mishandled the grounder and it bounced into centerfield allowing Cannon and Hernandez to score and Portland led, 2-0.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Michael Beltre led-off with a double to left field then scored on a force-out by Chad Bell, putting Somerset on the board, 2-1.

After walks drawn by Oliver Dunn and Brandon Lockridge, Frederick Cuevas singled to load the bases. Thomas Milone then hit a two-run double to right field and the Patriots took the 3-2 lead. Josh Breaux then blasted a three-run home run to centerfield, clearing the batter's eye, extending Somerset's lead 6-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning.

The Sea Dogs and Patriots will meet for the series finale tomorrow, August 15th at 5:05pm. RHP Denyi Reyes (3-1, 2.90 ERA) will be on the mound for Portland while Somerset will send RHP Shawn Semple (5-2, 3.11 ERA) to the bump.
