Late Erie Rally Falls Short on Friday Night

The SeaWolves charged late but could not overcome an early deficit as they dropped their second straight game to the Harrisburg Senators, 7-6, on Friday night at FNB Field.
Harrisburg grabbed the lead in the second against Erie starter Elvin Rodriguez. Donovan Casey led off with a single, stole second and scored on a one-out K.J. Harrison knock. Harrison would later score on an error for a 2-0 lead.
The Senators then knocked out the Erie starter in the third. Rodriguez retired the first two batters before allowing a Nick Banks single. Casey followed with a double putting two in scoring position for Jake Alu. Alu singled home the runners for a 4-0 lead. He would later score on a Jakson Reetz double to make it 5-0.
Erie got on the board in the fifth against Harrisburg starter Jackson Tetreault. Josh Lester led off with a double and moved to third on a Dylan Rosa groundout. Chris Proctor walked, putting runners on the corners for the top of the lineup. Riley Greene doubled home Lester making it 5-1. It was the third hit of the night for Greene. Ryan Kreidler grounded out, scoring Proctor making it a three-run game.
The Senators went back up by five runs in the bottom of the fifth when Casey connected on an opposite-field, two-run home run.
The SeaWolves got one back in the seventh when Lester doubled for the second time in the game and advanced to third on a Rosa groundout. He scored on a Proctor sacrifice fly making it 7-3.
The 'Wolves continued the rally in the eighth against reliever Pearson McMahan. Kreidler led off with a double and scored on a Spencer Torkelson base knock. Kerry Carpenter followed with a base hit putting runners on the corners for Andre Lipcius. Lipcius doubled home Torkelson to make it 7-5. Drew Ward made it a one-run game as he lifted a sacrifice fly to right, scoring Carpenter.
The SeaWolves stranded the tying run on third and in the ninth, got a two-out double from Kreidler to put the tying run in scoring position again. Carlos Navas, who retried the final three batters of the eighth, struck out Torkelson to end the game, stranding the tying run in scoring position for the second straight inning. Navas earned his first save.
Tetreault (2-0) earned the win allowing two runs on five hits with a walk and three strikeouts in five innings.
Rodriguez (3-4) took the loss allowing five runs, four earned, on seven hits with a walk and two strikeouts.
