DES MOINES, IA - The 2011 NBA D-League Champion Iowa Energy couldn't overcome a 17 point 4th quarter deficit as the Canton Charge defeated the Energy 104-95 Friday night.

Iowa trailed 82-65 heading into the final quarter, but used a 17-2 run to cut the lead to two points with 6:31 remaining. However, each time the Energy appeared to be back in the game, Canton would hit a big shot to ice the Energy.

After Curtis Stinson hit a pull-up jump shot to narrow the lead to two at 84-82, Canton's Terrance Thomas tipped in a missed shot and was fouled. His free throw put the Charge up five. Iowa answered by scoring on their next three possessions, but each time Canton scored as well to maintain the five point cushion.

Later in the game, with 3:37 remaining and Iowa down 91-88, Canton's Quinton Ross drilled a baseline 3-pointer with a man in his face to put the visitors up by six. Iowa would get no closer than five points the rest of the game as they lost their sixth game in seven tries.

The Energy loss means Springfield, Iowa and Canton are all tied for 1st place in the NBA D-League's Eastern Conference.

Brandon Ewing led Iowa with 19 points while Ben Strong added 18 points and 11 rebounds. Iowa played most of the game without leading scorer Mike Efevberha, who injured his hand mid-way through the 1st quarter.

Canton was led by Alan Anderson's 27 point effort. Cleveland Cavalier assignee Luke Harangody added 19 points and 8 rebounds in the win.

The Energy host Sioux Falls at 4pm Sunday. For tickets, visit www.IowaNBA.com or stop by the arena box office.
