Maine Celtics News Release

PORTLAND, ME - With seven tied scores in the first half alone, the Maine Red Claws (17-25) and Austin Toros (25-16) appeared evenly matched for much of the sold out game in Portland. Austin led 32-27 going into the second period, but Maine powered back, outscoring the Toros 35-28 to lead by 2 at halftime. Matching each other almost point-for-point in the third, Maine led by three going into the final frame only to see Austin charged back. The Toros outscored Maine 31-21 in the fourth to win 119-112, extending their win streak to 2 games and stopping the Red Claws three-game home winning streak.

Led by Justin Dentmon's 31 points, seven Austin players scored in the double digits. Recently acquired Lester Hudson (19 pts) and Da'Sean Butler (15 pts) rounded off the top three while Julian Wright scored Austin's only double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Morris Almond, the Adidas Player of the Game, closely trailed Dentmon's 31 points with 30 points of his own adding 10 rebounds, one of three Maine players to reach a double-double. Kenny Hayes followed up Sunday's triple-double with a double-double (26 points, 10 assists), leading all players in assists. Lawrence Hill (20 points, 10 rebounds) rounded off the double-doubles while Xavier Silas and Justin Brownlee chipped in 16 and 10 points, respectively.

The Red Claws and Toros will meet again on Sunday at 1 PM. The famed Red Panda, a must-see acrobatic act, will perform at halftime. The Red Claws will then head on the road for a Tuesday match up in Texas, and the Toros will host the Iowa Energy on Wednesday before the two teams meet again in Austin for a two-game set next weekend.
