Late Comeback Pushes Amarillo to Victory

AMARILLO, Texas - The Frisco RoughRiders fell to the Amarillo Sod Poodles 9-5 on Friday night from HODGETOWN.

The RoughRiders (56-43) took an early lead in the first inning when Diosbel Arias hammered his fifth home run of the season, a solo shot, to make it 1-0.

In the bottom of the first, the Sod Poodles (46-53) answered when Stone Garrett bashed a solo home run to tie it at 1-1.

Amarillo then took the lead in the bottom of the second on a Jancarlos Cintron RBI single, making it 2-1.

In the top of the sixth, Sam Huff knotted the scored with a solo blast, his ninth of the season, tying it at 2-2.

Dominic Canzone then tripled in two runs in the seventh, putting Amarillo up 4-2.

In the eighth, Frisco flattened the score again when Huff drew a bases-loaded walk and Josh Stowers lifted a sacrifice fly, scoring Davis Wendzel, to pen the score at 4-4.

The Sod Poodles fired back in the bottom of the eighth off of Alex Speas (1-2), scoring five runs on three hits to take a 9-4 lead.

Wendzel drew the Riders back to within four with an RBI double in the ninth, but they could not get closer.

Mack Lemieux (4-2) earned the win for Amarillo, allowing just one run over 1.1 innings.

The RoughRiders and Sod Poodles meet for game five of the series on Saturday, August 28th at 7:05 p.m. RHP Zak Kent (0-1, 0.82) starts for Frisco against RHP Drey Jameson (2-0, 1.98).
