LANGLEY, B.C. - A late comeback fell just short for the Everett Silvertips, as the Vancouver Giants earned a 4-3 win at the Langley Events Centre Saturday night.

Dominik Rymon opened the scoring for the Tips just 1:06 into play, potting a rebound for his team-leading 28th goal of the season. Cameron Schmidt would answer for Vancouver at 12:25 with a powerplay goal, followed up by a London Hoilett tip-in at 16:21 for a 2-1 Giants lead after one.

Tyler Thorpe slipped a short-handed goal over the shoulder of Ethan Chadwick on the faceoff at 9:15 in the second period to extend the Giants' lead. They struck again at 8:12 in the third period with Samuel Honzek sliding a wrister through heavy traffic for a 4-1 Vancouver advantage.

Everett battled back late in the frame, as Beau Courtney banged in a rebound for his 16th goal of the season at 13:26. Carter Bear brought the Tips within one with 49 seconds left, but Brett Mirwald and the Giants held firm the rest of the way for a 4-3 final.

Mirwald stopped 34 of 37 in the win. Ethan Chadwick saved 28 of 32 for Everett.

The Silvertips host the Wenatchee Wild tomorrow at 4 p.m. to complete a five-games-in-six-days stretch.
