Las Vegas Wranglers News Release

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers announced today the team traded center Jeff Attard to the Toledo Storm in exchange for center Pierre-Luc Sleigher (SLAY-guhr).

"Jeff's wife had a great career opportunity in the Toledo area and he asked if he could be traded there for the sake of his family", said Wranglers General Manager/ Head Coach Glen Gulutzan. "We did not want to trade Jeff, but we understood his situation. He's a good player and we hate to lose him, but we respected Jeff's wish to be traded.

"In return for Jeff we get a very good player in Pierre-Luc Sleigher. He is a gritty centerman who should help provide some depth for us up the middle. We are hoping to get him under contract soon and have him here in time for training camp."

Pierre-Luc Sleigher scored 12 goals and added 21 assists for 33 points in 40 games played this past season. The Montreal native's 33 points placed him fourth best in scoring for Toledo. The 5-foot-9, 185-pound center also racked up 78 penalty minutes for the Storm. Sleigher scored his first career hat trick against Johnstown April, 1 2005. Sleigher spent his rookie season with the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies, scoring 15 goals and adding 23 assists for 38 points in 63 games played. Prior to his professional career, the 23-year old played four seasons in the QMJHL playing for the Victoriaville Tigers. Sleigher played in 276 games, scoring 102 goals and adding 142 assists for 244 points, while amassing 1,021 penalty minutes. In his final season of junior hockey, Sleigher tallied 38 goals and dished out 67 assists for team-leading 105 points in 66 games. He finished second on his team with 226 penalty minutes in 2002-03.

The 27-year old Attard was named the 2005 CCM Man of the Year by the ECHL on April 7th, 2005 in recognition of his community service in the Las Vegas Valley. Attard leaves as the Wranglers career leader with 32 goals and 133 games played, while his 85 career points rank second. He scored his first career hat trick at Bakersfield on January 1, 2005 and he scored 43 points (16g-27a) in 68 games this past season. In the Wranglers inaugural season, Attard scored 44 points (16g-28a) in 70 regular season games and added two assists in five Kelly Cup Playoff games.
