Grizzlies sign Michaud, Miles, Kasper

West Valley City, Utah -The Utah Grizzlies announced today that they have signed goaltender Alfie Michaud (Mee-Shoh), and centers Jeff Miles and Kris Kasper.

Michaud spent last season in Peoria (ECHL) and Worcester (AHL) where he set a career low in goals against average and a career high with six shutouts. *Alfie is a quality goaltender, his game preparation will be a good example for the younger players,* said Grizzlies Head Coach Jason Christie. The Selkirk, Manitoba native was named the ECHL goaltender of the year during the 2002-2003 season. A veteran of 215 professional games, Michaud made his NHL debut October 28, 1999 with the Vancouver Canucks.

Miles, a ninth-round selection of the Chicago Blackhawks in 2001 averaged nearly a point a game last season with Reading (ECHL) while spending 28 games in the AHL with the Manchester Monarchs. *We're extremely excited to have Jeff in Utah. He had an outstanding college career and his pro career is off to a nice start,* remarked Christie. The 24-year old played collegiate hockey at the University of Vermont where he tallied 127 points (45g-82a) in 132 games.

Kasper also split last season, his first as a pro, between the ECHL and the AHL with Peoria and Worcester tallying 17 points (8g-9a) and 201 penalty minutes. *Kris is a gritty center; his hard work paid off last year with an AHL call up,* commented Christie. The Gibbons, Alberta native won a Royal Bank Cup, The Anavet Cup, and The Member Care Cup while playing junior hockey in Canada.
