Texas Wildcatters News Release

BEAUMONT, TX (September 7, 2005) - Texas Wildcatters Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Tony MacAulay announced today the team has signed veteran defenseman Geno Parrish to a contract for the 2005-06 season. Per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

After playing 41 games overseas with Freiburg EHC last season, Parrish, 30, joined the UHL's Danbury Trashers where he was a teammate of new Wildcatter Mike Bayrack. He scored a goal and 12 assists in 21 regular season games with the Trashers and added five points (2g, 3a) in 11 playoff games.

The previous two seasons, Parrish played with the ECHL's Greensboro Generals. In 2002-03, he picked up an assist in the ECHL All-Star Game as his Northern Conference squad defeated the Southern Conference 8-2. The next year, Parrish put together his best professional season as he registered 11 goals and 55 assists in 72 games with the Generals. Greensboro's third-leading scorer that year, Parrish, along with new Wildcatters teammates Mike Bayrack and Matt Turek, formed a potent offensive combination as the trio scored 67 goals and 119 assists in leading the Generals to a 40-30-2 record.

A 5-11, 180-pound native of Bloomington, MN, Parrish spent four seasons at St. Cloud State University, where he finished his collegiate career among the Huskies career leader in several categories. In his freshman season at St. Cloud, Geno played alongside his brother Mark, who is currently with the NHL's New York Islanders.

"Geno is a very competitive individual who brings a unique offensive look to our defensive unit," said MacAulay. "He is effective at both ends of the ice and he will be relied upon very heavily as a leader for this team. Geno's experience as a top veteran in the ECHL is a valuable asset for our club. Geno will help make our club improve with his drive and competitiveness. We look forward to welcoming Geno to what we hope will be a cohesive group of players."

The new-look Wildcatters open their third season on October 21 at Florida, before returning to Ford Arena for the home opener on October 29 against the Mississippi Sea Wolves.
