Las Vegas Beats Utah 4-1; Grizzlies Held to One Goal on 41 Shots

Las Vegas, Nevada - The Las Vegas Wranglers (1-0) defeated the Utah Grizzlies (1-1) 4-1 Saturday night at Orleans Arena in their season opener and as Utah completed back-to-back contests to start the year.

The Grizzlies outshot Las Vegas 41-22 in the contest and drew nine of the 13 power-plays in the game, but were unable to get any momentum going.

Las Vegas took a 1-0 lead on a power-play goal 10:56 into the first period.

In the second, Utah drew four of five power-plays, but was unable to tie the contest, before Las Vegas quickly extended the lead from 1-0 to 4-0 with three goals in 2:54.

Utah got on the board 4:46 into the third period on Jamie MacQueen's fifth goal of the year in two games after four goals Friday versus Idaho. David Vallorani (four assists in two games) and Adam Pineault (two assists in two games) drew assists.

The Grizzlies had some more good chances late, but never were able to get the game to 4-2.

Igor Bobkov suffered the loss in goal for Utah, allowing four goals on 18 shots.

The Grizzlies will be in Las Vegas Saturday, face-off is at 8 p.m.

Utah returns home Wednesday with Las Vegas at 7 p.m. for a Wild $2 Wednesday featuring $2 hot dogs, $2 fries, $2 Pepsi products and $2 draft beers. Students with ID will be admitted for $5.

Friday, the Grizzlies will be giving away a Los Grizzlies team poster featuring player head shots. Face-off with San Francisco is at 7 p.m.
