Sivak has career night against former team for first Aces win of season

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Peter Sivak collected a career high four points (all on assists), Evan Trupp stashed two goals and Joni Ortio earned a 17-save shutout as the Alaska Aces pummeled the San Francisco Bulls for a 5-0 victory before 4,948 fans at Sullivan Arena on Saturday.
The Aces, who responded after dropping its home opener in a 2-1 loss the previous night, went 2-for-9 on the power play in special gold-colored pirate theme jerseys.
Jordan Kremyr got the Aces on the board up 1-0 at 11:59 of the first period when he converted Tom Mele's feed off the rush with a wrister from the slot.
Trupp then bagged his first goal of the season on the power play, 9:57 into the second period when he redirected Peter Sivak's bid from the right circle past Tyler Beskorowany for a 2-0 edge.
The Aces owned a 26-11 shots on goal advantage through the first two periods and didn't let up with three goals in the final period to put the Bulls away. Trupp earned his second goal of the game just 1:47 into the period when he finished Sivak's feed at the left post.
B.J. Crum, making his season debut, blistered his first goal of the season past Beskorowany from the left point for another power play goal and a 4-0 advantage with 12:05 left.
Zach Davies put his stamp on the game for a 5-0 bulge when he snuck a 60 foot attempt past Beskorowany's glove with 1:58 remaining.
Ortio, who made his biggest save of the game on a bid by Kris Belan at the goal mouth in the third period, stopped six shots in the final period to earn the shutout in his first ECHL victory.
Beskorowany took the loss 34 saves.
NOTES: Crum, Ben Parker (pro debut) and Mele were inserted into the lineup for the first time this season ... the Aces outshot San Francisco 17-2 in the opening period ... defenseman Kane Lafranchise finished +3 to lead the Aces in the plus/minus category ... the Aces avoided an 0-2 start, which would have been the first since the 2004-05 season when they advanced to the Conference Finals ... the two teams won't meet again until Jan. 9 at the Cow Palace.
The Aces visit the Las Vegas Wranglers for their next game on Friday, Oct. 25 at 6:05 p.m. (750 AM KFQD).
