KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The American Association of Independent Professional Baseball has announced that Kansas City T-Bones pitcher Trent Lare has been selected as the Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending July 31.

Lare, 26, went 2-0 while allowing just one run on six hits over 15 innings in two starts during the week. He struck out 13 while walking just three in that span. The starts were the first for the left-hander since coming to Kansas City in a June 5 trade with the Wichita Wingnuts that sent a player to be named from the T-Bones. Lare finished off the week with a win over Wichita at CommunityAmerica Ballpark on July 30, allowing just one run on three hits in eight innings of work.

Since joining the T-Bones Lare is 3-0 with a 3.31 ERA over 15 appearances, two starts. He has allowed only 28 hits while striking out 28 and walking eight in 35 and one-thirds innings. The Emporia State product spent the 2009 and 2010 seasons in the New York Yankees organization, winning back-to-back Florida State League titles with Class A Tampa.

Lare is the third T-Bones player to earn weekly honors this season, joining outfielder Ray Sadler (July 24) and infielder Rico Washington (May 15).

Kansas City welcomes the Sioux City Explorers (37-36) to town for a three-game series that opens Tuesday night. First pitch is set for 7:05.
