Hamilton Bulldogs News Release

Cleveland, OH - Maxim Lapierre (two goals, one assist) and Francis Lemieux (one goal, two assists) each recorded three points as the Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Cleveland Barons 4-3 on Saturday night at National City Rink at Quicken Loans Arena.

Just 34 seconds into the game, Lapierre buried the rebound of a Jean-Francois Jacques shot to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. The Barons tied the game at the 3:47 mark when Matt Carkner took a pass from Ryane Clowe and fired a slap shot past Hamilton goaltender Jaroslav Halak. The Bulldogs regained the lead at 8:25 when J.J. Hunter's shot was stopped but Duncan Milroy backhanded the rebound past Cleveland netminder Dimitri Patzold.

Cleveland tied the game at 2-2 with 38 seconds remaining in the second period when Josh Hennessy snapped a shot behind Halak.

Lemieux gave the Bulldogs a 3-2 lead at 11:05 of the third period when his shot deflected off a Barons defenceman's skate and into the net. The Bulldogs went ahead by two goals just 2:22 later when Lapierre was positioned at the side of the Cleveland net and jammed the puck past Patzold. With 1:03 remaining, Tomas Plihal redirected Stafford's centering pass behind Halak to make it 4-3 and round out the scoring.

Halak blocked 33 shots and was named the game's third star while Patzold made 25 saves.

Hamilton was 0 for 3 on the power play while Cleveland went 0 for 6.

Hamilton's next game will take place tomorrow, Sunday, April 9th when they host the Manitoba Moose. Game time is 4:00 p.m. Tickets are available at Copps Coliseum Box Office (in-person sales only), any Ticketmaster outlet, online at ticketmaster.ca, or at select Sports Obsession locations.
