
Bears fall to Phantoms, 5-4, in overtime

The Philadelphia Phantoms got the scoring underway late in the first period with a goal from forward Jim Campbell at the 14:56 mark of the first. A little over three minutes later, Randy Jones matched Campbell's goal with one of his own to put the Phantoms ahead 2-0 heading into the locker room. The goal was Jones' second of the year. The pair also had tallies last Saturday at GIANT Center.
HERSHEY would answer mid-way through the second period with Jakub Cutta scoring his first goal of the season, the assists went to Doug Doull and Joey Tenute. The BEARS would tie the game at two, with Tomas Fleischmann's 28th goal of the year at the 15:01 mark of the second.
The third period would feature plenty of scoring; Jim Campbell scored his second of the game and 24th of the year to put the Phantoms ahead 3-2. Former Phantom, Boyd Kane scored his 20th goal on the power play to tie the game at 3-3. Pat Kavanagh would put the Phantoms ahead with only 2:52 to go in the third, but the BEARS would not go down without a fight. Joey Tenute would play the role of hero for the BEARS late in the game scoring goal number 18 with only :59 seconds to play in regulation. Tenute's goal was his 18th of the season and sent the game to overtime gaining a point for the BEARS.
David Printz would end HERSHEY'S hopes of a come from behind victory icing the game with a goal just :28 seconds into the overtime period. The goal was unassisted; Printz ended the night with a goal and two assists.
Notables: Dean Arsene and Ben Eager fought twice in the first period. Jakub Cutta was named the games third star. Lawrence Nycholat extended his point streak to eight games. Frederic Cassivi made 30 saves in the loss. The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins won the East Division with the BEARS overtime loss. HERSHEY was playing without regulars Louis Robitaille, Kris Beech and Eric Fehr. Defenseman, Mark Wotton made his return to the lineup after sitting out the last 4 games due to injury.
The BEARS will travel south to face likely first round opponent Norfolk tonight at 7:15. The game can be heard on the BEARS Radio Network and via Internet on the B2 network. The M&C Foreign Car Parts pre-game show will begin live from Norfolk tonight at 6:55 with John Walton making the call.
