Mississippi RiverKings News Release

SOUTHAVEN --- The Central Hockey League released the starters for the 2007 Northern Conference All-Star Team today (Wednesday) and, for the fifth straight season, RiverKings veteran defenseman Derek Landmesser will be among the league's elite in the mid-season exhibition. The 2007 CHL All-Star Game is being hosted by the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs on January 17 at the CenturyTel Center in Bossier City, LA.

The starting line-ups were selected through balloting which concluded last week among CHL coaches, public relations/broadcasting staff and selected media members in each CHL market. Joining Landmesser as Northern Conference starters are forwards Jeff Christian and Chris Richards of the Youngstown Steelhounds, and Riley Nelson of the Colorado Eagles. The other defenseman is Oklahoma City's Mike Burgoyne. Bossier-Shreveport's Ken Carroll was voted in as the starting goalie, but will likely miss the game due to injury. A replacement starter will be announced when the nonstarters are selected.

Currently, Landmesser is tied for second in the league in defensive scoring with 28 points (5 goals/23 assists). His assist total also leads the RiverKings.

The Southern Conference starters were also announced by the league today. They are forwards: Brent Kelly (Arizona), Justin Quenneville (Corpus Christi), Simon Watson (Lubbock); Defensemen: Adam Rivet (Laredo), Scott Hillman (Odessa); and Goaltender Jeremy Symington (Rio Grande Valley).

The remainder of the All-Star team members for both conferences will be announced this Friday, December 29 as selected by Northern Conference Coach Chris Stewart of the Colorado Eagles and Southern Conference Coach Terry Ruskowski of the Laredo Bucks, in conjunction with the CHL's Hockey Operations Department.

Landmesser and the RiverKings will be back on the ice this Friday as they open a two game set in Youngstown with a 6:05 CST start time. Saturday's game will also begin at 6:05.
