
Rivet Will Start For Southern Conference In CHL All-Star Game

LAREDO, Texas - The Central Hockey League and the defending 2005-06 CHL President's Cup Champion Laredo Bucks announced today that defenseman Adam Rivet has been selected to the starting lineup for the Dodge CHL All-Star Game at the CenturyTel Center in Bossier City, Louisiana, on January 17th. This is the fifth straight season the Bucks have placed a player in the starting lineup for the Southern Conference. The Bucks are on the road this Friday and Saturday in Rio Grande Valley. Laredo returns home on Sunday for the Westwind Homes Tuxes and Pucks New Years Eve Game at 7:30 p.m. against the Killer Bees. The starting lineups were selected following completion of balloting among all CHL Head Coaches, Communications Departments and selected media members in each market.
Rivet, the second year pro from Fort Erie, Ontario, leads the Bucks with 28 points and is second with 11 goals and 17 assists. He is tied for second among CHL defenseman in points, is second in goals and tied for seventh in assists.
Rivet tied for the CHL lead in plus / minus and was selected to the CHL All-Rookie team last season. The 6'0" 190 pound defenseman, had 16 goals, second among all CHL defenseman, and 38 points in 60 regular season games. His plus 39 rating tied with teammate Serge Dube for the CHL regular season lead. In the post-season he tied for fifth among CHL defenseman with seven points as he helped the Bucks capture the President's Cup. In addition to being selected for the 2005-06 CHL All-Rookie team, Rivet was a finalist for the 2005-06 CHL Rookie of the Year Award.
In the Southern Conference, right winger Brent Kelly of the Arizona Sundogs (3rd in CHL scoring) led all Southern Conference vote getters, appearing on 25 of 27 completed ballots, and is joined by Corpus Christi's Justin Quenneville and Lubbock's Simon Watson as the starting forward unit. Rivet will be joined by Odessa's Scott Hillman on defense, while Rio Grande Valley goaltender Jeremy Symington, a former Buck, gets the starting honor in net.
Hometown Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs goaltender Ken Carroll was voted to start for the Northern Conference but is unlikely to play due to recent injury. Defensemen Mike Burgoyne of the Oklahoma City Blazers and Derek Landmesser (making his fifth straight appearance) of the Memphis RiverKings will start on the Northern Conference blueline. The Youngstown SteelHounds' forward tandem of Jeff Christian and Chris Richards (currently 1st and 2nd in the CHL scoring race) will start up front, along with Colorado Center Riley Nelson, who leads the CHL with seven shorthanded goals and a +19 plus/minus rating. Nelson and Burgoyne led all Northern Conference balloting, selected on 20 of 26 completed ballots, while Youngstown is the only CHL club with multiple All-Star starters selected.
An additional six forwards, four defensemen and two goaltenders (as well as any necessary injury replacements) for each Conference will be selected by All-Star Coaches Chris Stewart (Colorado Eagles, Northern Conference) and Terry Ruskowski (Laredo Bucks, Southern Conference) in conjunction with the CHL's Hockey Operations department. Complete All-Star rosters will be announced this Friday, December 29th.

2006-07 BUCKS SINGLE GAME TICKETS ON SALE
- Single game tickets for the Bucks start at $14.95. Of the 32 home games, 25 will take place on either a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Game times will remain the same for the 2006-07 season. Weekday games begin at 7 p.m., while Friday and Saturday night games are at 7:30 p.m. Sunday games will be at 4 p.m.
