
Kelly Named as Starter for 2007 CHL All-Star Game

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Arizona Sundogs announced today that forward Brent Kelly has been named to the Southern Conference starting line-up for the 2007 Dodge CHL All-Star Game in Bossier City, Louisiana. The game is scheduled for Wednesday, January 27 2006 at the CenturyTel Center.
Starting lineups for both conferences were selected and voted upon by ballot among all CHL Head Coaches, communications departments and members of the media representing each market.
Kelly ranks third in the CHL in scoring with 37 points. His 16 goals are good enough for fourth in the league while his 21 assists rank seventh. The Kitchener, Ontario native leads the CHL in game-winning goals with five. Kelly sits atop the Sundogs leader board in a number of categories as well including goals (16), assists (21), short-handed goals (3) and shots (112).
"Brent has played very well for us this season and his numbers are proof of that," said Sundogs Head Coach/GM Marco Pietroniro. "We're excited and proud to have Brent represent our club during the All-Star game and we're confident he will showcase his skills and talent."
The 25-year-old led all Southern Conference vote getters, being selected on 25 of 27 completed ballots, and will be joined by forwards Simon Watson of the Lubbock Cotton Kings and Justin Quenneville of the Corpus Christi Rayz. The Laredo Bucks' Adam Rivet and the Odessa Jackalopes' Scott Hillman will start on defense, while Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees' netminder Jeremy Symington will start in goal.
The Southern Conference All-Stars will be coached by Laredo Bucks Head Coach Terry Ruskowski. Ruskowski will lead the Southern Conference for the third time in four seasons. Respective coaches for the All-Star game are selected based on winning percentage from the start of the CHL season up until Christmas day.
An additional six forwards, four defensemen and two goaltenders (as well as any necessary injury replacements) for the Southern Conference will be selected by Ruskowski in conjunction with the CHL's Hockey Operations department. Complete 2007 All-Star rosters will be announced this Friday, December 29th.
