
Scorpions' 10-game point streak snapped

[ RIO RANCHO, N.M.]- The New Mexico Scorpions, proud member of the Central Hockey League (CHL), saw their 10 game point streak snapped in a 5-1 loss to Colorado . Colorado came into New Mexico and used their special teams to power them to victory.
The Scorpions got on the board first when Kevin Harvey found the net for the first time in his professional career. The lead was short lived; 60-seconds later Craig Strain tied the game just 3:32 into the contest.
The Eagles wasted no time and used their special teams to propel them to the victory. Ed McGrane registered his seventh goal of the season, shorthanded 6:50 into the first period, giving Colorado their first lead of the game.
The Eagles added to their lead with their second shorthanded goal of the night in the second period. Aaron Schneekloth took the puck from the corner and worked it past Scorpions' goalie Scott Reid and extended Colorado 's lead to 3-1.
Colorado 's lead grew with two more special teams goals in the third period. Craig Hartsburg worked in two power play goals giving him 11 goals this year and all the offense the Eagles needed.
The Scorpions will be back on home ice Friday night when their rivals from Arizona come to town. In addition to the hockey game, the Stanley Cup will be up for display at the Santa Ana Star Center . Fans can have their chance to take their picture with the most revered trophy in North America . The puck drops at 7:35 p.m.
