December 27, 2006 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Corpus Christi IceRays News Release

Corpus Christi Rayz leading scorer, Justin Quenneville was named to the Dodge 2007 Central Hockey League Southern Conference All-Star starting lineup on Wednesday, the CHL announced. Quenneville will represent Corpus Christi as one of six Southern Conference starters in the game scheduled for Wednesday, January 17th at the CenturyTel Center in Bossier-Shreveport, LA. Quenneville currently leads the Rayz and is second in the conference with 30 points.

Quenneville, 24, has had a breakout season in his first year with Corpus Christi and in the CHL. The Montreal, Quebec native has already eclipsed his goal total and matched his point total from one season ago in 20 fewer games. Quenneville has 13 goals and 17 assists for 30 points in just 27 games thus far. The third-year forward also leads the Rayz in penalty minutes with 74. Quenneville shot out of the gates this season notching points in his first nine games from the start of the year and in 16 of his first 18 contests.

This will be Quenneville's first All-Star appearance and give the Rayz a starting player in the mid-season classic for the third straight season. Last year, defenseman Bernie John started for the Southern Conference, and in 2005, John started the game and was joined in the opening lineup by forward Jason Baird. Baird was named the Southern Conference MVP of that game after recording his second consecutive All-Star Game hat trick.

Joining Quenneville as this year's Southern Conference starting forwards are right winger Brent Kelly of the Arizona Sundogs and Lubbock's Simon Watson. Laredo's Adam Rivet and Odessa's Scott Hillman will start on defense, while Rio Grande Valley goaltender Jeremy Symington gets the starting honor in net.

In the Northern Conference, Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs goaltender Ken Carroll was voted to start for the Northern Conference but is unlikely to play due to recent injury. Defensemen Mike Burgoyne of the Oklahoma City Blazers and Derek Landmesser of the Memphis RiverKings will start on the Northern Conference blueline. The Youngstown SteelHounds' forward tandem of Jeff Christian and Chris Richards will start up front, along with Colorado Center Riley Nelson. Youngstown was the only CHL club with multiple All-Star starters selected.

The respective starting line-ups for the Dodge 2007 Central Hockey League All-Star Game were selected following completion of balloting among all CHL Head Coaches, Communications Departments and selected media members in each market.

An additional six forwards, four defensemen and two goaltenders (as well as any necessary injury replacements) for each Conference will be selected this week by All-Star Coaches Chris Stewart (Colorado Eagles, Northern Conference) and Terry Ruskowski (Laredo Bucks, Southern Conference) in conjunction with the CHL's Hockey Operations department. Complete All-Star rosters will be announced this Friday, December 29th.
