Somerset Patriots News Release
Bridgewater, NJ- The Lancaster Barnstormers defeated the Somerset Patriots 7-3 at TD Bank Ballpark on Tuesday night.
An RBI single by Josh Pressley in the bottom of the second scored Matt Hagen and gave the Patriots an early 1-0 lead.
Lancaster answered right back in the top of the third on a solo homerun by Tommy Everidge (23).
Hagen (11) broke the tie in the bottom of the sixth after he drove a solo homerun over the left field wall to make the score 2-1.
The Barnstormers rallied to score four runs in the seventh on RBI base hits by Wayne Lydon and Everidge to take a 5-2 lead.
Dan DeGeorge doubled and eventually came around to score on a passed ball in the seventh to cut the Lancaster lead to 5-3.
Lancaster scored a run the following inning on a solo homerun by Travis Metcalf (3).
The Barnstormers added to their lead in the top of the ninth after Lydon (9) drove a solo homerun over the right field fence for the 7-3 final.
Lancaster starter Matt Wright (5-9) got the win after allowing three runs in 6.1 innings pitched. Somerset starter Jim Magrane (1-2) suffered the loss, allowing five runs on seven hits in 6.2 innings pitched.
