Breast Cancer Auction Begins

(Central Islip, N.Y., Aug. 22, 2011) - The Long Island Ducks kicked off their sixth annual Breast Cancer Awareness Jersey/Bat auction on Monday night (photo above), where fans can bid on the pink jerseys and bats used by their favorite Ducks players and coaches. The Ducks will sport the jerseys and use the bats during the August 29 game against the Somerset Patriots, as part of the Sixth Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Night.

Bids will start at $75 and will be raised in minimum $10 increments. The auction will conclude at the seventh inning stretch during the August 29 game, with winners to be announced later the same evening.

Fans interested in bidding can do so by visiting the auction tables located on the concourse and inside the Waddle In Shop from now until the auction's conclusion. Bids will also be accepted over the phone by calling the Waddle In Shop at (631) 940-3825 extension 126. Proceeds from the auction will benefit multiple Long Island Breast Cancer Coalitions participating in the event. All donations are tax deductible.

The Long Island Ducks play their home games at Bethpage Ballpark and are in their 12th season of play. Tickets for the 2011 season are on sale now.
