Lancaster Stormers News Release
Prentice Redman had only driven in two runs in Bridgeport's first 11 games against the Lancaster Barnstormers this season.
He exceeded that total in the first three innings on Friday night.
Redman stroked a pair of doubles down the left field line, driving in three runs as the host Bluefish bumped off the Barnstormers, 6-2, in the middle game of a three-game series at Harbor Yard.
Bridgeport reached Rich Rundles (3-3) immediately. Daniel Mayora, who is hitting .478 against Lancaster pitching this season, rolled a single into center to start the bottom of the first. Austin Krum picked up a walk, and both runners scored on Redman's liner into the corner.
In the third, Krum and Redman teamed up again. Krum beat Rundles to the first base bag on a one-hopper to first baseman Blake Gailen. Redman stroked a sharp grounder to third, which was only partially blocked by Jason Taylor and rolled deep into foul territory, enabling Krum to race around and score for a 3-0 lead.
Bridgeport struck for two more runs in the fifth on RBI singles by Mayora and Alexis Gomez. Juan Martinez brought home another in the sixth inning.
Ryan Harvey's power was instrumental in both Barnstormers runs. The Lancaster right fielder slammed his league leading 26th home run of the season to dead center to open the fourth inning. In the sixth, Harvey ripped a ground rule double to left, sending Olmo Rosario to third with one out. Kyle Russell got the run home with a ground out.
Mike Parisi (5-14) worked the first seven innings, allowing six hits and three walks, to get the win for the Bluefish.
The Bridgeport portion of the home-and-home series will conclude on Saturday evening at 6:00. Lancaster will send right-hander Will Savage (8-10) to the hill against lefty Hunter Jones (6-9). Fans may tune into 1390-AM, WLAN; 1600-AM, WPDC; 1390wlan.com or the I Heart Radio cell phone app beginning at 5:45.
