CAMDEN, N.J. - Chris Walker broke the record for all-time career triples in the Atlantic League in an August 15 6-0 win over the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.

Walker, an outfielder, hit his 37th triple in the fifth inning against the Blue Crabs in his return to the Camden Riversharks. Walker had been playing in the Mexican League since early July.

With his triple, Walker unseated Brad Strauss and Kennard Jones who each had 36 career triples in the Atlantic League. Walker came into the 2013 season four triples away from tying the record set by Strauss and Jones. Strauss' number was retired by the Camden Riversharks on August 12, 2007.

"I didn't even realize right away that I had just broken the record, and I was a little bit overwhelmed when I heard it announced," said Walker. "No matter what level you're playing at, it is an honor to hold a record like that. This is definitely something I feel good about, and it will be something I can tell my son and share with my family." Drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 2002, Walker spent time in both the Cubs and Los Angeles Angels organizations before joining the Atlantic League in 2008. Since 2008, Walker has only spent one season away from Camden when he joined the York Revolution for their league championship campaign in 2011.

"The Riversharks organization could not be happier for Chris Walker," said Adam Lorber, President and General Manager of the Camden Riversharks. "To dethrone someone with such credentials as Brad Strauss in any record is an amazing accomplishment in itself, and we look forward to see what other records Chris can set next."
