CRESTWOOD, Ill. - Boo Vazquez homered twice on Saturday night, as the Lake Erie Crushers split their double header with the Windy City Thunderbolts at Standard Bank Stadium, dropping the first game, 4-3, before winning the finale, 6-4.

The split gives the Crushers (33-43) a pair of wins over the first five games of their road trip, while the split for the Thunderbolts (32-44) gives them three wins in their last five games.

In the opening contest, which was a continuation of a game that was suspended in the 10th inning on Friday night due to rain, the Crushers lost in their opponents final at bat for the third time on this road trip. Game two saw the Crushers capitalize on a pair of big bombs from Boo Vazquez, as they came from behind to win, 6-4.

Game One

Lake Erie struck first in the top of the first inning, as the first three batters of the game reached safely. Austin Prott led off with a single to right, and moved to second after a walk was issued to Chandler Brock. Jose Barraza followed with a RBI single back up the middle to score Prott.

Zach Morton retired the first nine batters he faced, before the Thunderbolts got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning, as Coco Johnson began the inning with a solo homer to left, his seventh of the season to tie the game at 1-1.

The Thunderbolts went on to take the lead in the bottom of the seventh. They had runners on first and second with one out, when Alex Chittenden singled to center to score Cody Keefer, giving them a 2-1 lead.

It didn't take the Crushers long to respond, as they used their first extra-base hit of the game in the top of the eighth inning to regain the lead. With two outs, and runners at first and second, Daniel Aldrich drilled a two-run triple to the gap in left center to give the Crushers a 3-2 lead.

Windy City tied it in the bottom of the ninth. Ransom Lalonde belted a one out double, and was replaced on the bases by Ryan Dietrich. Dietrich made his way to third on a wild pitch, and scored the game tying run on Chittenden's sacrifice fly out to center.

After the Crushers went scoreless in the top of the 10th, the game went into a rain delay, and was ultimately suspended, before being picked up in the bottom of the 10th on Saturday, when Max White stroked a one out single to center to score Austin Gallagher two win the game for the T-Bolts.

Joel Lima (3-3) took the win for the Thunderbolts, tossing two scoreless innings in relief, while Trevor Longfellow (5-6) suffered the loss, after allowing a pair of runs on three hits in 1.1 innings of relief.

Game Two

Vazquez's first of two homeruns came in the top of the second inning, a solo shot over the wall in center field to give the Crushers a 1-0 lead.

The Thunderbolts answered with three runs in the home half of the second. Keefer started the inning with a double, and the next batter, LaLonde, was hit by a pitch. Two batters later, Chittenden singled into right field to score Keefer, and an error by Alrich in right allowed LaLonde to score as well. Chittenden scored later in the inning on Larry Balkwill's RBI double to center.

Lake Erie trailed 3-1 until they blew up for four runs on four hits in the top of the sixth. Prott began the inning with a single back through the middle of the infield, and scored on Barraza's RBI double to the gap in left center. Barraza made his way to third on Juan Sanchez's two-out infield single, before Vazquez struck again with a big three-run homer to right, his second of the night, and his third of the season to give Lake Erie a 5-3 lead.

The Crushers added one more in the top of the seventh. Brendan Costantino started the inning with a single through the left side, and Cody Stevens laid a sacrifice bunt down to move him to second. A wild pitch pushed him to third, and he scored on a wild pitch as well.

Windy City made things interesting in the bottom of the seventh. Chittenden reached on an error to start the inning and Balkwill walked. Johnson then moved them over on a groundout to short. Mike Torres drove Chittenden home on a sacrifice fly out to center, and two batters later, Mike Devine (4) retired White to end the game.
