Evansville Otters Game Preview
August 15, 2015 - Frontier League (FL)
Evansville Otters News Release
Evansville, IN- After suffering back-to-back tough losses, the Evansville Otters (48-28) look to get back on track on Breast Cancer Awareness Night sponsored by Comfort Inn & Suites and Marathon.
The Otters dropped their series opener against the Schaumburg Boomers (32-44) by a 7-4 score. It was a game where the Otters never really got the bats going, finally breaking on to the board in the bottom of the seventh with a two-run RBI double by John Schultz. The Otters made it interesting in the bottom of the ninth by scoring two and bringing the tying run to the plate in the person of Dane Phillips, but Phillips grounded out to third on a 1-0 pitch, ending the threat and the game.
The game tonight features a fairly new arm to the Otters pitching staff in the person of Blaine Howell. Howell pitched two innings in relief on Tuesday, finishing off the Otters 8-1 victory and securing the win for Brett Marshall, picking up three strikeouts in the outing. Howell has been primarily used as a reliever in his six-year professional career, but will start tonight for the Otters. He will be opposed by Raul Jacobson, who is 3-2 with a 2.79 ERA after picking up a win in his last start, going 7.1 innings pitched, giving up two runs on ten hits and striking out six without waling a single batter.
The Otters will be wearing special pink jerseys for the game and every single one of the Otters' jerseys will be auctioned off throughout the game. All proceeds from the jersey sales will go to breast cancer funds. There will also be a very special chair dedication during the game, honoring the memory of Prisoners of Wars and Missing Persons, presented by Rolling Thunder Inc., Indiana Chapters.
First Pitch tonight is scheduled for 6:35 pm CDT with the pregame show featuring Mike Radomski, Bill McKeon and Jake Donnelly starting at 6:15 pm CDT. Fans can listen to all three games in the Evansville area on 91.5 WUEV or online at EvansvilleOtters.com.
