Arseneau to Join Padres Organization
August 15, 2015 - Frontier League (FL)
Southern Illinois Miners News Release
Marion, Ill. (August 15, 2015) - The Southern Illinois Miners announce that Tim Arseneau, longtime Miners general manager and vice president, has accepted a similar position with the Lake Elsinore Storm, the Class A-Advanced affiliate of the San Diego Padres in the California League.
Tim joined the Miners for their inaugural season in 2007 after spending the 2006 season as the general manager for the South Bend Silver Hawks, the current single-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. With the Miners, he held the position of general manager until 2014, when he was promoted to be the team's vice president. As the vice president, Arseneau, who is in his 20th year working in professional baseball and has also worked for Palisades Baseball as well as the A-Advanced Clearwater Threshers in the Philadelphia Phillies organization and the former Madison Black Wolf franchise in the Northern League, oversaw the day-to-day business operations for the Miners and also the Diamond Club, the banquet and catering business at Rent One Park.
During his tenure in Southern Illinois, the Miners led the Frontier League in attendance in each of the team's first four seasons (2007-10, setting a league record in 2007 that still stands to this day), won the Frontier League's Organization of the Year award three times (2007, 2009 and 2010) and also captured the team's first Frontier League championship in 2012.
"I would like to thank Jayne & John Simmons for the opportunity they have provided me these past nine years," Arseneau said. "Without this experience I wouldn't be in the position for my new venture. The accomplishments and memories we as an organization have achieved over the past nine seasons is the something I will always be proud of.
"I would also like to thank former Miners vice president and long time friend, Erik Haag, who nine years ago brought me Southern Illinois, as well as the Miners manager Mike Pinto, his coaching staff, our team staff and players both past and present because these are the people who make this organization run on day to day basis. Not only did I enjoy working with them, but I enjoyed even more the friendship that developed and will last for a lifetime. Last but certainly not least, I want to thank the sponsors, season ticket holders and fans because without passion and commitment, Rent One Park would not be what it is today. The Miners truly have the best fans in the land."
The Southern Illinois Miners are the 2014 Frontier League East Division Champions and the 2012 Frontier League Champions. They have been awarded the Frontier League Organization of the Year award three times since their inception, and also set a new Frontier League attendance record in 2007, their inaugural season.
