Los Angeles FC News Release
The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2020 Concacaf Champions League after beating Club León 3-0 on Thursday night at Banc of California Stadium. LAFC came into the match down 2-0 in the series but would complete the comeback with goals from Carlos Vela (2) and Diego Rossi.
LAFC will face Cruz Azul in the next round of the tournament, with match details announced at a later date. For the second leg, Bob Bradley would make one change to the starting lineup from last Tuesday's game in León as Eduard Atuesta replaced Francisco Ginella in the midfield.
It was all LAFC from the start, with forwards Carlos Vela and Brian Rodriguez getting a pair of chances in the early moments of the match. The Club would cut the series lead in half in the 27th minute as Vela got on the end of a Diego Rossi cross that snuck through the hands of goalkeeper Rodolfo Cota.
The reigning MLS MVP would get his brace in the 77nd minute to level the aggregate score. Two minutes later, Rossi tallied the winner with a left footed strike over Cota and into the back of the net.
LAFC opens MLS regular season play on Sunday, March 1 against Inter Miami CF at 2:30 p.m. PT on ESPN, ESPN Deportes, 710 AM ESPN, and 980 AM. A limited amount of single-match tickets are available via Ticketmaster here. LAFC Partial Ticket Plans are on sale.
