Kyle Burroughs Agrees to Entry-Level Contract

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The New York Islanders announced today that defenseman Kyle Burroughs has agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract that will take effect in the 2015-16 season.

Burroughs, 19, recorded 39 points (seven goals, 32 assists) in 66 games during his fourth full Western Hockey League season, split between the Regina Pats and Medicine Hat Tigers. The Langley, B.C., native had two assists in a five-game, opening round playoff series for Medicine Hat, helping the team advance to its current second-round series against the Calgary Hitmen.

The Islanders selected Burroughs in the seventh round (196 th overall) of the 2013 National Hockey League Draft. Burroughs spent most of his career with Regina, captaining the team during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons. In 250 career WHL games, Burroughs scored 22 goals and 98 assists.

Burroughs represented Canada-Pacific on the international stage at the 2012 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. He made his American Hockey League debut at the end of the 2013-14 season, appearing in nine games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
