
Kvasnicka Homers Again as Legends Top Power 6-4

(WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK, Lexington, Ky.) Mike Kvasnicka hit his third home run in two games and Jonas Dufek pitched seven strong innings as the Lexington Legends defeated the West Virginia Power 6-4 Monday night.
Lexington took a 3-0 lead in the first inning. With one out, Jordan Scott reached on a bunt single. After Zach Johnson lined out, Scott advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on Matt
Duffy's single to left field. Kvasnicka doubled, moving Duffy to third, and Drew Muren drove in both runners with a single to center field.
West Virginia scored one run in the second when Dan Gamache led off with a double and scored on Junior Sosa's single to right field.
The Legends added two more runs in the third. Johnson led off with a single, and one out later Kvasnicka homered to left, giving Lexington a 5-1 lead.
The Power cut the lead to one with three runs in the fourth. Gregory Polanco led off with a double and advanced to third on Willy Garcia's single. Gamache followed with a single, scoring
Polanco and moving Garcia to second. Jose Osuna then singled to right field, plating Garcia and sending Gamache to third, from where he scored as Junior Sosa grounded into a double play.
Lexington scored its final run in the bottom of the fourth. With one out, Jimmy Howick singled to left. Delino DeShields Jr. followed with an infield single, and Howick moved to third when shortstop Alen Hanson's throw went wide of second base as he attempted to get Howick on a force play. Scott walked to load the bases, and after Johnson popped out, Duffy walked, forcing in a run and leaving the score at 6-4.
Dufek (3-1) earned his second straight victory. He allowed four runs, and struck out six batters. Dayan Diaz pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his sixth save of the year.
West Virginia starter Zack Von Rosenberg (0-1) picked up the loss after allowing six runs in four innings.
The two teams will play game two of the three-game series Tuesday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
