Kossila, Berra Join Gulls

SAN DIEGO - The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has reassigned center Kalle Kossila and goaltender Reto Berra to the San Diego Gulls, Anaheim's primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Kossila, 24 (4/14/93), collected 1-1=2 points in 10 games with Anaheim this season. Signed as a free agent on Mar. 30, 2016, Kossila has earned 13-25=38 points with a +9 rating and 22 penalty minutes (PIM) in 35 AHL games with San Diego this season. The 5-10, 185-pound center returns to the Gulls leading the team in scoring, assists and plus/minus, ranked tied for second in goals, and tied for third in power-play goals (5). Kossila was named the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Jan. 7 after recording 1-6=7 points in three games.

Berra, 31 (1/3/87), went 1-1-0 with a 2.31 goals-against average (GAA) and .926 save percentage (SV%) in five games with the Ducks. Berra made his Anaheim debut on Oct. 13 at Colorado and earned his first win as a Duck on Nov. 20 at San Jose. Signed as a free agent on July 5, 2017, Berra has gone 11-7-0 with one shutout, a 2.72 GAA and .919 SV% in 19 games with San Diego this season.
