Highmore Recalled by Blackhawks
February 27, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Rockford IceHogs News Release
ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have recalled forward Matthew Highmore from the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs.
Highmore, 21, made his professional debut with the IceHogs this season and has recorded a team-high 35 points (21g, 14a) in 56 games. He was selected to the AHL All-Star Classic earlier this year, has posted nine multi-point games - including a pair of hat tricks - and currently ranks ninth in the AHL and third among league rookies in goals.
In addition and with his most recent tally on Saturday at Hershey, Highmore set Rockford's AHL record for rookie goals with his 21st strike of the season. The 5-10, 187-pound forward is now Rockford's first skater to score more than 20 goals in his rookie season during the team's AHL affiliation (since 2007-08).
The Halifax, Nova Scotia native was originally signed by Chicago as an undrafted free agent on March 2, 2017. Prior to making his pro debut, Highmore helped lead Saint John to the 2016-17 QMJHL championship by collecting a team-high 89 points and 55 assists. He totaled 247 points (90g, 157a) through five seasons with the Sea Dogs from 2012-17, and currently holds the team's all-time record for career assists.
Next Home Game: Wednesday, Feb. 28 | Rockford vs Texas Stars (7 p.m.)
The IceHogs welcome the Texas Stars to the BMO Harris Bank Center for a Fas Fuel Winning Weekday at 7 p.m. Fans can enjoy discounted hot dogs, select beer and companion tickets. If the Hogs win, tickets from Wednesday's game can be redeemed for a ticket of equal or lesser value to the following Fas Fuel Winning Weekdays game on Tuesday, March 13. Former Chicago Blackhawks defenseman and Stanley Cup champion Brian Campbell will also be in attendance, and a select number of fans will have the chance to get an autograph. Tickets can be purchased at IceHogs.com, by calling (815) 968-5222 or in-person at the BMO Harris Bank Center Box Office.
