Fort Wayne Komets News Release
Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets will faceoff against the new Roanoke Valley Vipers this Saturday night at the Coliseum for the traditional Fort Wayne Komets New Year's Eve game. It will be the 49th Komet home New Year's Eve game in the 54-year history of the hockey franchise in Fort Wayne.
The Komets defeated the Troy Bruins 3-2 in their very first New Year's Eve game at the Coliseum in an IHL match in 1955. The Komets posted a 26-12-1-3 (W-L-SOL-T) record in 42 New Year's Eve games during their run in the IHL.
Saturday's tilt will be the 7th Komet home New Year's Eve game since joining the UHL in 1999. Last year the Komets stopped the Motor City Mechanics 5-0 to improve to 5-1-0 in Komet home UHL games on New Year's Eve.
The Komets have an overall New Year's Eve record of 31-13-1-3 in 48 total games.
