Portland Beavers News Release

PORTLAND, Ore. - Jon Knott delivered a solo home run to left-center in the bottom of the eighth, and the Portland Beavers got an impressive start from Clay Hensley on their way to a 3-2 win over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox at PGE Park Sunday afternoon.

Adam Hyzdu also clubbed a solo home run for the Beavers (14-15), who conclude their homestand Monday morning at 11:05 a.m.

Hensley was sharp in his second Triple-A start. Hensley gave up a pair of runs on five hits, issuing just one walk and retiring the side in order in four of his seven innings.

In his second appearance at Triple-A, reliever R.D. Spiehs (1-0) got the win and Brad Baker picked up his eighth save.

Zach McClellan (1-1) gave up Knott's home run to suffer the loss for the Sky Sox (14-14).

Colorado Springs starter Tim Drew, who entered with a 10.32 ERA, struck out seven and gave up two runs on seven hits over seven innings.

Hyzdu started the scoring with his first home run as a Beaver, launching a long blast off the batter's eye in center field to lead off the bottom of the second.

Ryan Shealy led off the fifth with a solo home run to tie things at 1-1, but the Beavers responded in the bottom of the inning. Ben Risinger got on with a one-out single and scored on Michel Hernandez' double to right-center.

Hensley's bid for his first Triple-A victory was spoiled in the seventh when Shealy doubled and later scored on a fielder's choice groundout to knot it at 2-2.

Josh Barfield joined Knott with two hits to lead the Beavers, who out-hit the Sky Sox, 10-5.

NOTES: Kerry Robinson had a 14-game hit streak come to an end. Robinson was the only Portland starter held hitless ... it was the first time in two weeks the Beavers hit two home runs in a game ... Monday is OMSI Art & Science of Baseball School Day ... half of Portland's win this season have come by one run.
