RedHawks Shut Out Express 7-0

May 8, 2005 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Round Rock Express News Release

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - RedHawk righthander Ricardo Rodriguez came into Saturday's game with the Express as only one of four pitchers who have pitched complete games in the Pacific Coast League. Now, he's the only one who has thrown two complete contests in 2005.

Saturday night, Rodriguez shutout the Express on only five hits, while striking out five and walking only one to ice away his fourth win of the season.

Rodriguez's teammates banged out an early lead, scoring four in the bottom of the first on a solo homer by SS Manny Alexander off Express starter Chris Fussell, and later that inning, DH Chris Richard, who was not in manager Bobby Jones' original lineup, smoked a three run homer off Fussell to give Oklahoma the early lead.

The RedHawks scored three more in the third when reliever Jeremy Griffiths walked the bases load to begin the inning, and then surrendered a two run single by 3B Esteban German and an RBI ground out by 1B Adrian Gonzalez, making the score 7-0.

Oklahoma tacked on another run, this one unearned, in the eighth off reliever Brooks Kieschnick and that was the final, 8-0.

Mother's Day baseball in Oklahoma City begins at 2:05 PM with Wandy Rodriguez going against Oklahoma righthander Jason Standridge.
