
Knights Fall to Stripers 7-3 on Tuesday Night

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- The Charlotte Knights dropped the opener of the six-game homestand against the Gwinnett Stripers by a score of 7-3 on Tuesday night at Truist Field.
Charlotte infielder Erik González led the way at the plate for the Knights with a three-run homer in the second inning. He went 1-3 with one run scored and three RBI.
LHP Garrett Davila (2-7, 6.14 ERA) was saddled with the loss after starting the game and giving up six runs over 4.2 innings pitched. The Stripers scored four runs in the opening frame against Davila to take an early 4-0 lead. RHPs Caleb Freeman, Jordan Leasure and Chris Muller made their Truist Field debuts with the Knights, throwing one scoreless inning a piece.
Outfielder Adam Haseley and catcher Korey Lee were productive at the plate, each of them going 2-4, with Haseley hitting a double and scoring one run.
RHP AJ Smith-Shawver took home the win for Gwinnett after throwing six innings and giving up three runs.
The Knights will continue the six-game homestand against the Gwinnett Stripers (Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves) on Wednesday afternoon.
