Kalamazoo, Mich - The Kenosha Kingfish (16-13) fell to the Kalamazoo Growlers (9-18) 11-1 at Homer Stryker Field on Thursday, August 5th.
Looking to start off fast at home, Kalamazoo took the early lead in the first on an Alex Tappen (Virginia) sacrifice fly. Kalamazoo added three more runs in the third on a Jake Gelof (Virginia) double and a wild pitch to take a 4-0 lead.
In the fourth, Kenosha plated their only run on a Matt Korman (Wisconsin-Whitewater) solo shot to cut the deficit down to 4-1.
Kalamazoo added one run in the fifth, four in the sixth and two in the seventh to increase their lead to 11-1 and secure a win in the series opener.
On the mound, Kingfish starter Bryant Bagshaw (Minot State) threw five innings conceding five runs. Anthony Touhy (Aurora) came on in relief allowing four runs in one inning pitched. Harry Deliyannis (Pomona-Pitzer) threw one inning allowing two runs. Alex Saunders (Wisconsin-Parkside) threw one inning of shutout ball.
Kenosha will take on Kalamazoo tomorrow, Friday August 6. First pitch is at 5:35 p.m. CDT.
