Traverse City Pit Spitters News Release

Rockford, IL - The Pit Spitters tied a franchise road record for runs in a 22-12 win over the Rockford Rivets on Wednesday.

The 22 runs are the second most in franchise history, tying the mark set in Rockford on July 13. The next day on July 14, they set the record with 23 runs at home against Battle Creek.

Miguel Useche hit his first home run of the season in the top of the second to spark the offense, who scored six more runs in the third. Zeb Roos doubled home a run and scored on Michael Stygles' two-run single. Camden Traficante put an exclamation point on the inning with a two-run home run to make it 7-1.

The Rivets scored five unearned runs with two outs in the bottom half to cut the lead to one, but they would never be that close again.

Traverse City scored in five consecutive innings, adding one in the fourth, four in the fifth and five in the sixth. After two scoreless innings, the offense was right back at it with a five-run ninth.

When it was all said and done, every single starter recorded a hit and reached base multiple times. Six players had multiple hits, six had multiple runs and five had multiple RBI's.

Traficante led the way with 3 hits, a double, a home run, 5 RBI's and 3 runs.

Useche was 2-4 with a homer and double, scoring four runs.

Evan Maday had two hits and walked three times, scoring four runs.

Chris Monroe broke out of a seven-game streak without an RBI with a 4-RBI night.
