Frederick Keys News Release

For a second consecutive night, the Frederick Keys registered 16 hits, as the Keys bested Kinston 6-2 for its fifth consecutive win at Grainger Stadium.

The Keys are now 7-1 against Kinston in 2009.

The Keys trailed 2-1 into the fourth inning when it's hit parade reached full throttle.

C Caleb Joseph lined a single into right field to lead off the inning. That was followed by 1B Robbie Widlansky's line drive single moving Joseph to second base. Next up was RF Billy Rowell who put down a perfect bunt and raced down the line, beating the throw to load the bases with nobody out. SS Pedro Florimon then registered the first of three hits on the night to score Joseph tying the game at 2-2.

Two batters later CF Matt Angle singled home two runners and the Keys had the lead for good at 4-2.

Frederick had five batters with multi-hit nights led by Widlansky, who went 4-for-5 with the Keys lone extra base hit. Frederick's first 15 hits on the night were singles.

After a rough first inning, Keys starter Nate Nery settled down and worked solidly through the fifth inning. Nery, (3-3) won his second consecutive start, allowing seven hits and two runs.

The bullpen dazzled once again as RHP Eddie Gamboa worked three perfect innings, striking out four batters. Gamboa has not allowed a run in four outings totaling eight innings since his promotion from Class-A Delmarva.

RHP Brian Parker worked a shutout ninth inning to close the door on the 6-2 win.

The Keys go for the sweep Thursday, July 9th with RHP Sean Gleason on the hill. First pitch is slated for 7:00 p.m. with The UPS Store Pre-Game Show kicking off at 6:40 p.m. on The Keys Baseball Network.

Frederick returns home for a seven-game homestand Friday, July 10th against Myrtle Beach at 7:00 p.m. The first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive a free Keys Action Baseball Card Set presented by Extra Innings.
