The Kernels open their final home stand of the first half with eight games that have playoff implications. The Fun's Right Here with a rundown of what you can expect each day:
June 14-17 vs. Kane County Cougars
The Kernels open an eight game home stand with four games against the Kane County Cougars, the Midwest League affiliate of the Oakland Athletics.
Sunday is always a fun day, and the Kernels make it so on 104.5 KDAT Sunday Family Day. Fans can get autographs from the Kernels on the concourse from 4:20 until 4:40 pm. Play Travel Advisors Baseball Vacation Bingo during the game and enjoy the balloon artistry of Papa Balloon on the concourse and following the game, play catch in the outfield and run the bases. The Kernels celebrate Flag Day with a special presentation by the Cedar Rapids Elk's Lodge before the game. It's also Disabled American Veterans Night and fans receive a free pack of baseball cards, featuring former Kernels that were invited to Major League Spring Training. The Kernels welcome special groups on Faith Night as part of the Healing in the Heartland weekend. Gates open at 4 pm and the first pitch is scheduled for 5:05 pm.
The Kernels and Cougars square off at 6:35 pm on Monday, June 15th on Cedar Hills Booster Club night. Gates for Monday's game open at 5:00 pm.
Bring your appetite to the ballpark on Tuesday, June 16th on 98.1 KHAK Two Dollar Tuesday, as regular hot dogs, 12 oz. draft beer, bottled soda, nachos and peanuts are just two bucks when the Kernels take on Kane County at 6:35 pm. And, every Tuesday home game is KRAFT Singles Day at the ballpark! Fans can bring in a KRAFT Singles package wrapper to the Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium box office, buy one ticket and get one ticket free from KRAFT Singles! The Kernels and Cougars wrap up their series with a noon game on Wednesday, June 17th, presented by 104.5 KDAT. It's also an Xquisite Limo Player Magnet Day - the first 1,000 fans through the gates when they open at 11 am receive a free magnet of former Kernels pitcher Ervin Santana, co-sponsored by 96.5 Mix FM and WMT AM 600. Take a break from the office for some daytime baseball as the Kernels and Cougars start at 12:05 pm.
June 18-21 vs. Clinton LumberKings
Are you ready for some football? How about the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders? That's right, the world famous Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders visit Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Thursday, June 18th, presented by Innovative Aesthetics, as part of NFL Night when the Kernels take on Clinton at 6:35 pm. It's also a 100.7 The Fox Thirsty Thursday - fans can enjoy 12 oz. draft beer for just $1.50 all game. Grab your jersey for NFL Night on Thursday, June 18th - gates open at 5:30 pm.
You could drive away with a 'new' used car on Pat McGrath Chevyland Used Car Night on Friday, June 19th when the Kernels take on Clinton at 6:35 pm. Every fan with a valid driver's license gets a ticket and if your number is drawn, you've won a used car from Pat McGrath! You'll want to be here when the gates open at 5:30 pm on Z 102.9 Progressive Beer Night. 16 oz. draft beer starts at $1 and goes up a dollar an hour until reaching full price. The Kernels take on Clinton at 6:35 pm.
It'll be a bang-up time on Saturday, June 20th as the Kernels present spectacular, post-game fireworks show, presented by Procter & Gamble. The Kernels welcome special guests on East Buchannan Community Night. Gates open at 5:30 pm and the Kernels take on Clinton at 6:35 pm.
The Kernels wrap up the first half of the MWL season with a Sunday to remember. First, bring Dad to the ballpark early and enjoy a Father's Day Brunch, served from 9 am to 1 pm. Brunch tickets are $12 for adults, $7 for kids 4 to 12 and kids 3 and under eat free. While you're waiting for the game, head over the FREE Principal Financial Group Family Fun Fest, from 11 am to 2 pm in the parking lot with lots of FREE family-oriented activities for kids of all ages. Then, the first 500 fans through the gates when they open at 1 pm receive a free AEGON USA Zach Johnson bobble head. If you can't get here early, 500 more bobble heads will be on sale with the proceeds to benefit Zach's Birdies that Care foundation. It's also a 104.5 KDAT Sunday Family Day. A BIG day starts at 9 am at Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium and the Kernels take on Clinton at 2:05 pm.
