South Bend Silver Hawks News Release

Comstock Park, MI - In conjunction with the Arizona Diamondbacks, the South Bend Silver Hawks have announced that left-handed starter Wade Miley has been placed on the disabled list with a sprained left foot. Taking his place on the active roster will be LHP Keny Sosa, who will be joining the team from extended spring training.

Miley injured his foot attempting to field a ball on the final out of the fifth inning Thursday night against West Michigan. His DL stint is retroactive to Friday, June 12th. He did not return for the sixth inning, but did earn the victory in helping South Bend end an eight game losing streak.

On the season, Miley is 3-5 with a 3.78 ERA in 11 starts. The left-hander has walked only 13 batters while striking out 52 in 64.1 innings of work. He was a supplemental first round pick in the 2008 First-Year Player Draft from Southeastern Louisiana University.

Sosa joins the Silver Hawks from extended spring training, and has not yet pitched in regular games this season. Last year with rookie league Missoula, Sosa went 2-3 with a 6.02 ERA. At 22 years old, Sosa is in his fourth season in the Diamondbacks organization after being signed as a non-drafted free agent on December 8, 2005. He is originally from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
