Beloit Takes Series Finale from Bees

Burlington, IA - The Burlington Bees wrapped up their five-game series with Beloit losing 4-1 Saturday night at Community Field. Beloit ended up winning four of five games from the Bees in the series.

The Bees got on the scoreboard first putting up one run in the second inning. With one out, Jose Bonilla doubled. Chase Fontaine then came to the plate and doubled to score Bonilla and the Bees led 1-0.

The Bees led 1-0 until the sixth inning when Beloit scored two runs to take a lead. The Snappers then added a run in both the seventh and ninth innings.

Mike Montgomery got the start for the Bees and pitched well. In 4.2 innings, he allowed just two hits with three strikeouts and three walks. Justin Garcia pitched two innings allowing three runs, two of which were earned, on four hits with one walk. He took the loss to move to 1-4. Barry Bowden pitched 1.1 innings of no-hit baseball with three strikeouts. Riquy Pena pitched the final inning allowing one unearned run with one strikeout and two walks.

The Bees outhit Beloit 7-6. Chase Fontaine led the way going 2-4 with an RBI. The Bees were mathematically eliminated from picking up a first-half post-season berth with the loss.
