
Kernels bounce back with 10-2 win

The Cedar Rapids Kernels picked up their first win of the MWL second half with a 10-2 victory over the Burlington Bees on Friday night at Community Field in Burlington. Angel Castillo went 1-3 and homered for the third consecutive game, dating back to June 21.
Kernels starter Will Smith (5-3) allowed two runs on six hits over seven innings for the win, walking two and striking out two. Kevin Nabors and Andrew Taylor both worked a scoreless inning out of the Kernels bullpen. Burlington starter Mike Lehmann (2-3) allowed three runs on four hits over 5 innings in taking the loss.
Tyson Auer and Gabe Jacobo both had two hits with Auer going 2-3 with 3 RBI and three runs scored and Jacobo going 2-4 with a double. Roberto Lopez was 1-3 and had 3 RBI and Anel De Los Santos went 1-3 with a double, 2 RBI and two runs scored.
The Kernels and Bees play the third game of their four game series on Saturday night at 6:30 pm from Community Field in Burlington.
