LANSING, Mich. - Kevin Coddington and Dave Sappelt each swiped two of Dayton's franchise record eight stolen bases, as the Dragons (2-1; 30-43) used both speed and power to soar to a 5-2 victory over the Lansing Lugnuts (1-2; 27-45) before a Saturday night crowd of 7,894 at Oldsmobile Park.

Byron Wiley supplied the key blow in the game, powering a two-run homer off Lansing starter Chad Beck (0-4) to break a 1-1 tie in the fourth inning.

Mike Konstanty added a two-run homer of his own in the fifth to offset a 1-for-11 performance with runners in scoring position.

The Lugnuts' main offensive highlight came courtesty of a solo home run from Chris Emanuele off Dayton starter Matt Fairel (5-3), who scattered four hits over six frames to earn the victory.

Oscar Castro, Junior Martinez, and Aguido Gonzalez combined to allow just one hit while striking out five over three scoreless relief innings to lock down the Dayton victory. Gonzalez pitched a perfect ninth for his seventh save.

The Dragons' stolen base barrage began with three steals, two by Sappelt, in the first inning against the battery of Beck and catcher Jon Talley. Coddington and Cody Puckett added thefts in the second inning, Kevyn Feiner swiped a bag in the fourth, Sappelt was caught stealing in the fifth, and steals by Coddington and Miguel Rojas finished off the thievery in the eighth.

Puckett, in his first game back from the Florida State League, reached base in all five plate appearances due to three walks, a hit-by-pitch, and a single.

In the loss, Lugnuts shortstop Tyler Pastornicky stole his 33rd base of the season and second baseman Luis Fernandez provided a pair of magnificent diving catches in the field.

The two teams finish up their four-game series with a 2:05 p.m. Sunday Kids Day at Oldsmobile Park. All-Star right-hander Henderson Alvarez (5-5, 3.97) starts for the Lugnuts against Dragons right-hander Curtis Partch (4-6, 5.69).
