Rockford, Ill. - Chicago Blackhawks General Manager of Minor League Affiliations Mark Bernard announced on Friday that Henrik Karlsson has been reassigned to the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs, and Kent Simpson has been reassigned to the ECHL's Toledo Walleye.
Karlsson rejoins Rockford after being recalled to the Blackhawks on Feb. 14, where he fulfilled back-up duties for three games. The Swedish goaltender has appeared in four tilts with Rockford since being acquired in a trade from the Calgary Flames on Jan. 21. The 6'6" netminder holds a 2-2-0 record with the IceHogs, including a 2.23 goals against average and a .919 save percentage.
While Karlsson returns to Rockford, Simpson will head back to Toledo. The rookie netminder did not appear in any of the IceHogs three contests since being recalled to Rockford on Feb. 14. Simpson has appeared in one tilt for the IceHogs this season, making 29 saves in Rockford's 6-3 loss to the Texas Stars on Jan. 21.
In 28 games this season with the Walleye, the Edmonton, Alberta native holds a 14-10-3 record, a GAA of 2.42 and a save percentage of .906. Simpson was named the ECHL's Goaltender of the Week for Jan. 28-Feb. 3.
