Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
Montreal, Quebec - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Rochester Americans 3-2 on Friday Night in front of 10,173 fans at Bell Centre. Steve Quailer scored the game-winner and Daultan Leveille had two assists.
The Americans opened the scoring at 10:35 of the opening frame on a goal by Mark Pysyk. Rochester came into the offensive zone on a three-on-one and Phil Varone slid a pass from the left circle to Pysyk in the right slot who one-timed the shot low past Hamilton Bulldogs starting goaltender Dustin Tokarski.
The Bulldogs tied the score at 11:43 of the first period as Jarred Tinordi shot the puck in from the left point which bounced off of the boards behind the net and trickled in off the pad of Rochester Americans starting goaltender David Leggio. With an assist on the play, Leveille notched his first-career point in the American Hockey League.
Rochester took the lead again at 14:02 of the first stanza on a shorthanded tally by Maxime Legault. Brayden McNabb picked up the puck in the slot and wired a shot off the post to Tokarski's left and the rebound came out to Legault at the top of the crease who buried the puck by Tokarski.
The 'Dogs tied the score at two just 26 seconds into the second frame on a goal by Mike Blunden. Michael Bournival fed a pass from the left corner and Blunden tipped it under Leggio from the top of the crease. At 2:04 of the second period, Quailer picked up the puck from Leveille and snapped it over the shoulder of Leggio from the slot as the Bulldogs took a 3-2 lead and eventually won the game by the same score. Hamilton outshot Rochester 25-19.
